Celebrate National Nurses Week

May 6th, 2023 - May 12th, 2023

This week from May 6 until May 12, we are celebrating National Nurses Week. There are over 4 Million nurses working in the United States today, more than ever before. To recognize their hard work and achievements, National Nurses Week aims to highlight nurses across the country in all fields.

National Nurse Week began in 1954 and was officially designated in 1974, aligning with May 12th’s International Nurse Day and Florence Nightingale’s birthday. The American Nurses Association (ANA) has continued to evolve the event, recognizing professionals such as certified and registered nurses.

Outreach and awareness are critical goals of National Nurse Week, underscoring the criticality of the nursing profession. Healthcare relies on skilled nurses to operate. Education, burnout, and mental health are pressing issues faced by nurses today. The American Nurses Association aims to address these and other significant challenges during their month long celebration of nursing, coinciding with National Nurse Week.

Included in the celebration are a number of special days to honor professionals. May 8th is recognized as National Student Nurses Day and this year May 10th will mark National School Nurse Day.

To all of the nurses in our lives, we say thank you!
