Attending the 2022 Heartland Developers Conference

This October, we attended the 2022 Heartland Developer's Conference held in idyllic Omaha, Nebraska. Over the course of two days, we met with local industry leaders in various fields, attended many educational panels, and learned a great deal from regional experts. Here are some of our highlights.

The conference is coordinated by the AIM Institute, a nonprofit organization focused on education and training in technical fields. This year we met with various local educational programs, Prairie STEM and Omaha STEM Ecosystems, who provide opportunities for students of all ages through local partnerships. The keynote speaker David Kong from MIT Media Lab, speaking on ways they try to provide a global educational experience in biosciences.

Omaha is a center for various industries. Construction giant Kiewit made it's presence known, showing off some cutting edge augmented reality technology. Financial cooperative Farm Credit Services of America sponsored the event. Amongst a number of booths, many businesses were looking for local talent for hire with promises of innovative projects.

Expert panels covered a wide variety of topics, including selling an idea to management, managing quality assurance processes, pros and cons of development practices, and even election security. With the wide array of topics, we were spoiled for choice during the two days.

All in all, it was a great experience. We made some new friends, learned about the latest technology being developed in our region, and came away with a renewed appreciation for the Heartland. We're looking forward to next year's conference.
