A New Way to Pick Dates

OCH Date Picker for Encounters by Practice report

Working with dates and times in any application can be slow, awkward, and sometimes a little confusing. Each piece of software you use may have a different method for date entry, leading to inconsistent user experiences. Some applications use custom date interfaces to make more sense to it's users. Another common challenge is handling time spanning over more than one day. Let's take a look at how On-Call Hub has approached these challenges.

On-Call Hub's new interface allows users to choose a range of dates all in one interface. The dates can either be clicked on or the values typed in. Clicking on dates will set the start of the range first, and the then end date with the second click. Times can also be adjusted to the minute by typing them beside the dates in the time fields. This new feature can be found in various reports, scheduling and searches across the site.

This date selection interface is designed to be easy and fast to use. By allowing users to click or type in their date selection, we hope to make the data entry process as simple as possible. In addition, this interface is designed to handle time ranges that span over multiple days. This is a common challenge when working with dates and times, and especially overnight periods.

Worried about accidentally scheduling something for the wrong date or time? Don't be! Users can always adjust their selections before clicking Close by clicking on the date or time fields. This will open up the drop-down menu where you can re-select the correct date or time or manually type the time.

We're always looking for ways to improve On-Call Hub, and we hope this new date selection interface will make it a little easier for you to work with dates. As always, we welcome any feedback or stories you wish to share.
